Greetings from Equal Justice USA!

We hope that you have heard the exciting news that the House of Representatives in New Hampshire approved an abolition bill. This action sent the bill to the Senate Judiary Committee. This committee will hear testimony on HB 1548--Abolition of the Death Penalty—on Monday, April 24th at 10:00 a.m. in room 306 of the Legislative Office Building.

Governor Shaheen has said publicly that she would veto such a measure. House sponsors of the abolition bill met with the Governor and are asking that calls, letters or emails to the Governor start pouring in to show support for the bill. (They ask that they come from in and out-of-state.)

Let’s ask Governor Shaheen to take this courageous step toward justice!

As for the Moratorium Now! campaign, things are busier than ever! Yellow Springs, OH and Atlanta, GA are the newest cities to endorse a moratorium on executions, bringing the total number of local governments to 16 and the total number of groups nationwide to 770!
